For over two years, farmers of Chhatrapur village struggled to cultivate their fields. The setback occurred when two Lift Irrigation Points provided by Government broke down and became defunct. The LI Points were the only source of water for irrigation in these hilly areas. Failing crops due to lack of adequate water supply brought in misery and hardship. Immediate intervention was necessary to revive these LI Points to help the farmers increase the agricultural productivity. Parsu Gauda, President of Bansidhara Pani Panchayat says: " Our land was very fertile two years ago. But when the LI Points broke down, agriculture production reduced drastically. Vedanta with the help of LPADF (Lanjigarh Project Area Development Foundation) granted Rs. 10.62 lakhs for the revival of Lift Irrigation points. Now we are doubly benefitted. Instead of one crop farming, today our farmers are cultivating multiple commercial vegetables all year round."
