Health and Sanitation
Vedanta Limited is providing primary health care services to the community integrating all the factors required to improve their health status. It is based on principle of equity, wide coverage, individual & community involvement and intersectional coordination in order to ensure proper accessibility of health services to each individual residing in the villages. Vedanta spearheaded some major health care projects, independent as well as collaborative.
 
Mobile Health Unit (MHU)
Vedanta has set up a MHU to bring about marked improvement in general health and well-being of adjoining villages. Aimed at providing preventive treatment for minor ailments, the unit attends 1500 patients per month across 12 villages. Immediate check-ups and free diagnosis for the poor has reduced water-borne and skin diseases, especially among children. The main objective behind this initiative is to provide door step healthcare facilities to the peripheral villagers. To provide the service, Vedanta has engaged Wockhardt Foundation, a renowned agency in health care.
 
Mega Health Camps
In a major initiative to promote health facilities for local communities, Vedanta, in collaboration with the District Administration, organises health camps in peripheral villages. Specialists from nearby hospitals are engaged for these camps who suggested cures for disorder of heart, liver and lungs.
 
Health Awareness Camps
Vedanta has strived to touch lives by sensitizing local communities about life impairing diseases. Under Community Engagement initiatives, awareness camps on Dengue, Malaria, Dengue, Diabetes, Hypertension, Jaundice, Diarrhoea are organised. Beside these camps, several times Vedanta also conducted mass blood donation camps in partnership with Red Cross Society and different organisations.
 
Project "Janani"
Project "JANANI" is aiming at providing support to mothers and adolescent girls on reproductive and child health care. It is targeted to reduce infant & maternal mortality rate by educating, awareness building & strengthening health service system with the reach of 13 Sub Centre of Kolabira & Kirmira Block, covering approximately 10,000 beneficiaries.
 
HIV/AIDS prevention programme
Aligning to our sustainability commitment through framed guidelines of HIV/AIDS policy, Vedanta has launched 'Project Jagriti' for prevention of HIV/AIDS among formal and informal workers in association with Odisha State AIDS Control Society (OSACS), the nodal agency under the Govt of Odisha. The objectives of this initiative is to sensitise the workers and community members on HIV/AIDS prevention measures. The project is creating awareness through a cadre of Peer Educators and conducting series of awareness and outreach programs like street play, condom promotion, distribution of IEC materials, etc.
