Vedanta Limited Limited, Lanjigarh observed World TB Day on March 24, 2014 at Vedanta Hospital to increase public awareness on tuberculosis. With around 1.7 million people dying of this disease every year, there is a strong need to spread awareness, the company believes.

On this occasion, Vedanta Limited Limited, Lanjigarh launched the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) at Vedanta Hospital. The hospital has been empaneled as one of the centers for RSBY scheme in Lanjigarh block. The objective of RSBY is to help BPL households in meeting financial liabilities arising due to health related issues like hospitalization. Beneficiaries under RSBY are entitled to hospitalization coverage of up to Rs. 30,000/- for diseases that require hospitalization. Coverage extends to five members of the family – Head of household, spouse and up to three dependents. Beneficiaries need to pay only Rs. 30/- towards registration fee while the Central and State Government take care of the premium.
